On imovie i want to make a clip slow motion but when i double click on it,it just plays so how do i change it?

I have the imovie 8.0. According to Apple.com/life or that tutorial it say you have to double click and something will pop up so that you can make it slow motion but when i double click it just plays it

In iMovie > Preferences > Browser, change the double click box to ‘Edit’ rather than ‘Play’.
Or when you place your cursor on a clip you will see a liitle blue box at the begiinning of the clip, click on that and it will open the effects box.
